“Dublin City Council awards large Diftar contract to GMT!”

After a selection phase that has lasted about two years, Dublin City Council (Ireland) has chosen GMT Europe as service provider for the full implementation of “Pay as you throw” (polluter pays) in the city of Dublin. The project will comprise the implementation of Diftar modules from CLEAR.net, the supply of 40 advanced, touch-screen on board computers, RFID readers on the vehicles’ loading systems and the entire implementation of the total solution. GMT has contracted the company Manvik for the installation of the vehicles.

Mark Abbas director of GMT Europe: “We are, of course, delighted with Dublin City Council’s choice. In the last two years a great deal of hard work has been done in relation to the tender process and Dublin City Council is a name with international references.” During the selection process, visits were made to a range of GMT customers in the Netherlands including Milieudienst [Environmental Services] Groningen and ROVA in Zwolle. “During these site visits we were able to hear from our customers what we had already put down on paper in the planning phase”, said to Abbas The delegation from Dublin was not only impressed with our knowledge of Diftar, the coverage and ‘look & feel’ of the software and the software’s performance but they were also very impressed with the magnificent locations that we visited.

The “Grey Bin Project” as it is known, is a huge project and the implementation is expected to take a year.
