GMT Services replaces back-office systems www.weekendjeweg.nl
Bookit, the organization behind the successful product
www.weekendjeweg.nl , uses as one of the oldest customers of GMT Europe bv a custom package program that runs since the early days on the SCO Unix operating system. Over the years, a very complex environment, where the SCO server with the database program plays a crucial role. To meet the high availability requirements, GMT Services has already build in the past a fault tolerant SCO environment. Since the hardware was outdated and the increased performance requirements, it was decided to replace the hardware and to upgrade the operating system.
Bookit has opted for two servers from the HP DL380 G5 series and an upgrade to SCO Open Server 5.0.7. GMT Services has first replaced the fail-over server and created a template for the production server ready. By interrupting the RAID-10 mirrorset, after the test on this server was approved, the production migration could be done in a much faster way. This was necessary because of the limited service window. Bookit benefit directly from the new systems, the performance is dramatically improved and the handling of the process is extremely flexible. This new configuration will bring new opportunities to further optimize the functionality.
